If the original Life is strange When Life is Strange: Double Exposure first came out nearly 10 years ago, the Max Caulfield we know was just discovering her ability to turn back time. In Life is Strange: Double Exposure, she discovers a new ability – the ability to switch between two parallel timelines.

Why is this important? The plot of Life is strange: double exposure revolves around Max Caufield, now the house photographer at Caledon University, who finds her new best friend Safi dead in the snow – murdered.

“To save her, Max tries to turn back time – an ability she hasn’t used in years… instead, Max opens the way to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive and still in danger! Max realizes that the killer will soon strike again – in both versions of reality. Only Max can switch between the two parallel timelines to solve and prevent the same murder.” the synopsis makes you curious.

In a newly released video from Square Enix, developer Deck Nine offers a deep dive into Max Caufield’s new ability to switch between two parallel timelines. Additionally, the video focuses on her new Pulse ability. As described by the developer:

Pulse allows Max to peek into the other timeline before jumping through, as the danger isn’t limited to just one timeline. Pulse also allows Max to eavesdrop on conversations on the other side, which is the perfect supernatural tool for an amateur detective.

In Life is strange; double exposureMax must use both of her newfound powers to solve the impossible murder of her friend Safi. Max must switch between two increasingly difficult timelines as the player uses these powers to solve unique puzzles, navigate the complex social dynamics of the campus, and explore all of Caledon University’s secrets.

Life is strange: double exposure is scheduled to be released on October 29, 2024 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game is currently available for pre-order. The Digital Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Digital Ultimate Editions each offer different unique benefits.
