OVERBROOK, Kansas – Jeffrey Lang Good, affectionately known as Jeff by his friends and family, passed away on August 12, 2024 at the age of 67. Jeffrey was born on September 21, 1956 in Coffeyville, Kansas, and his life’s journey ended peacefully in Topeka, Kansas, after a brave battle with cancer. Jeffrey was a beacon of goodness and spirit throughout his life and touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Jeffrey moved with his parents Norman and Pat and his siblings Robert, Alan and Colleen to Overbrook, Kansas where he entered the third grade. After high school, Jeffrey decided to do a brief military service which led him to serve his country in the Marine Corps. His service was a testament to his character: strong-willed, dedicated and always ready to support his fellow soldiers. After his time in the military, Jeffrey briefly lived and worked in Rhode Island but returned to his hometown where he lived near childhood friends. Jeffrey continued to serve his community in another capacity and began a career where he became an important part of Harding Glass, Kennedy Glass and later the U.S. Postal Service. His work ethic and kind nature made him not only a reliable colleague but also a valued friend to many.

Outside of his professional life, Jeffrey was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. His love for music was undeniable, and the legendary rock band Steppenwolf held a special place in his heart. He attended numerous concerts over the years. Car shows were another favorite of Jeffrey’s, where he could indulge his love of cars, especially Volkswagen vehicles. His hobby of collecting cars was more than a pastime; it was a pursuit of preserving and appreciating the craftsmanship of times gone by.

Jeffrey’s passion for collecting extended to a variety of other items as well, often taking him to local thrift stores in search of the next treasure for his collection. His keen eye for the unique and valuable made these trips both exciting and rewarding. Those who accompanied Jeffrey on his adventures will fondly remember his joy when he discovered a rare find.

Those who knew him best described him as thoughtful, kind and spirited. Jeffrey will be remembered not only for his interests and hobbies, but for the warmth and generosity he showed to all. His thoughtfulness was evident in his everyday interactions, always taking the time to listen and offer a helping hand. His kindness knew no bounds and his spirited nature ensured that his presence was a source of comfort and joy. Jeffrey truly enjoyed being with his great nieces and great nephew, for he was a big kid at heart.

Jeffrey leaves behind his loving family, including his brother Alan Good and his wife Sarah, his sister Colleen Gould, his sister-in-law LaVonne Good, and three nieces and two nephews.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Pat, his older brother Robert and his nephews Jimmy and Tyler.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his family, who find comfort in the indelible mark he left on their lives. As we say goodbye to Jeffrey Lang Good, we celebrate a life of unwavering kindness, a spirited soul, and a legacy of service and friendship that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Jeffrey’s life’s journey was filled with meaning, joy, and genuine human connection. Although his presence will be sorely missed, the memories he created will continue to bring smiles and warmth to all who remember him.

In accordance with Jeff’s wishes, his life will be honored in a private event at 4 p.m. on September 20th at Overbrook Cemetery, where family and friends will share stories, laughter and love and honor a man who was truly one of a kind. Jeff’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the path he blazed through the lives of those he touched will forever endure.
