Kelly Oubre Jr. of the Sixers is one of the 30 best small forwards in the league

Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is coming off an excellent 2023-24 season in his first season in the City of Brotherly Love. The Kansas veteran was signed at the minimum salary in September and averaged 15.4 points and 5.0 rebounds while being an athletic asset for Philadelphia.

The Sixers brought Oubre back on a free agent deal and will rely on him to join the starting lineup alongside the star trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey. He’s a great role player that coach Nick Nurse can rely on to instill a scorer’s mentality and make a difference in certain matchups.

HoopsHype has compiled a ranking of the 30 best small forwards in the NBA, with Oubre ranking 26th on the list:

76ers forward Kelly Oubre is an athletic, strong, leggy swingman who plays with a lot of energy on both ends of the court. He’s not the most efficient shooter, which mostly hinders his ability to become an even better player, but he’s a solid, high-energy role player who can make an impact on both ends of the court thanks to his athleticism.

Oubre will likely start at shooting guard for the Sixers considering George is the small forward for that group, but Philadelphia has options to fall back on. You have to like what Nurse and the coaching staff have at their disposal as they head into an exciting 2024-25 season.
