It is easy to see why dogs are the most popular pet in the country. Dogs are intelligent, loyal and boy – are they lovable.
Accordingly ForbesBy 2024, over 65 million households in the United States will own a dog, and we know that there are countless residents in Western New York State who consider their pups part of the family.
With the number of dog owners on the rise, many cities across the country, including Buffalo, are striving to become popular destinations for our four-legged friends. From dog parks to dog-friendly restaurants, we’ve always thought that the city of good neighbors (and “good guys”) is at the forefront when it comes to catering to dog owners…
But according to a new study, we could be wrong.
New list of the most dog-friendly cities in the USA
Lawn care company LawnStarter recently launched its Rankings of the most popular cities for dog owners in the USA, based on criteria such as dog-friendly housing (e.g.: Rentals where dogs are allowed, spacious housesAnd large backyards) dog-friendly businesses, community, care and affordability.
The top cities on their list were Scottsdale, Arizona, Asheville, North Carolina and Santa Fe, New Mexico. But where did Buffalo land on their list?
According to the website, Buffalo, New York State is one of the worst places for dog owners
According to LawnStarter’s list, Buffalo ranks at the bottom of the list of most dog-friendly cities in the country, coming in at number 300 out of 500. Yuck.
The low score is mainly due to the rating of the housing situation in Buffalo, which is 407 out of 500 points according to the website.
Strange, considering that just four years ago another website Buffalo was ranked among the top 10 cities in the country with the most dogs by dog owners and was called the “Jewel of Upstate New York.”
