OAKVILLE, Missouri (First Alert 4) – An 8-year-old girl and her grandmother have been hospitalized for more than a week with critical injuries following a crash in south St. Louis County.

The two-car accident occurred on August 14 at around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Olde Post Road.

Officials said 8-year-old Gracie was traveling with her mother, Taryn Rose, and her grandmother, Barb, when the accident occurred. Gracie and Barb were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Taryn suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.

A GoFundMe page for the Rose family says Gracie suffered “lifelong injuries” in the accident. The GoFundMe page says the girl broke her neck and is paralyzed from the chin down. She also reportedly has a broken pelvis, kidney failure and fluid in her lungs and will be on a ventilator for the rest of her life.

Barb has a broken hip, a fractured spine, and a spinal cord injury that has left her paralyzed from the chest down. She is currently intubated until her sternum heals.

According to GoFundMe, Taryn suffered a broken rib, swelling around her kidneys, fluid on her heart, a broken vertebra and stitches above her eye. She has been released from the hospital and continues to recover.

The 16-year-old who was driving the other car involved in the accident is still at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
