Murder suspect extradited to Clay County

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – A man accused of killing a 14-year-old Moorhead girl appeared in Cass County District Court Friday morning.

Isaac Arndt, 18, appeared before a judge via Zoom from the Cass County Jail for an extradition hearing. Arndt was arrested on August 20 and is charged with second-degree murder. He will be extradited to Clay County, where the alleged crime occurred, and formal charges will be filed there.

According to an arrest warrant, Arndt and the victim, 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker, had recently separated and agreed to meet at Gooseberry Park on August 19. Walker’s mother filed a missing person’s report with the Moorhead Police Department after midnight on August 20, and police found her body near the river in the area of 6th Avenue and Elm Street South.

Investigators questioned Walker and he eventually admitted to stabbing Walker about 13 times. He also said he slit her throat, hugged her and stabbed her in the back one final time before riding away on his scooter.

Arndt told investigators he left his scooter and went to his apartment in Fargo, where he cleaned himself up and washed his blood-stained clothes.

The warrant describes video surveillance from a nearby home showing Arndt leaving the wooded area in Moorhead where Walker was found.

Walker would have been a freshman at Moorhead Area Public Schools this fall.
