Game Notes
After Cedar Rapids scored two runs in the 8th inning to tie the game, Dayton had a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the inning. Leo Balcazar and Victor Acosta hit back-to-back 2-out singles to put runners on the corners, but they couldn’t capitalize on that chance. They got another chance in the bottom of the 9th inning when Carter Graham led off the inning with a walk. He then advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Trey Faltine. A wild pitch then moved Graham to third base. Hector Rodriguez got a full count and then hit a grounder to left field for a walk-off that gave Dayton the win and extended their winning streak to eight games.
Cam Collier’s two hits extended his on-base streak to 24 games. During the streak, he got on base 54 times and had a batting average of .338/.509/.527 with eight doubles, two home runs, 25 walks and 20 strikeouts.
Brian Edgington allowed 11 earned runs in 15.0 innings in his first three starts with Dayton. In the three starts since then, he has allowed three earned runs on just four hits and three walks, striking out 22 batters.
