Third place in our Blind tasting Jungle Bird 2024 went to New York’s aptly named Jungle Bird. The bar’s house recipe forgoes blackstrap entirely, using a blend of Don Q pineapple rum and Smith & Cross Jamaican rum instead. Add to that the expected Campari, lime and pineapple juice, and the unorthodox pineapple liqueur. Juicy and refreshing without a pronounced rum punch, the drink was called “a great Jungle Bird to start with” by Brooklyn bartender Evan Major and “the friendly Jungle Bird” by rum expert Austin Hartman.
