‘You should be that big boxer’: Rolly Romero breaks his silence on Devin Haney’s fiasco at the Orange County Fair

Devin Haney has been more involved in controversy than ever since he fell to the mat three times by Ryan Garcia. The American boxer added a new chapter of controversy to his life when he recently punched a fan at the Orange County Fair. Fans and professionals alike criticized him for his actions and now Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero also jumped on the bandwagon. What did he say?

Haney, 25, and his entourage jumped a fan during an argument, and clips of it quickly went viral on the internet. “KingRy” quickly avoided him. Romero, 29, also wasn’t shy about questioning his antics when he appeared in an interview with Fight Hype TV.

When asked about the incident, the former WBA champion wondered about the large number of bodyguards that “The Dream” had. He also pointed out that Haney, who is 30-0, will have to throw a punch in the fight. He said: “You have 17 bodyguards. Why the hell are you even doing anything? But why are you even doing anything, and honestly, why are you even arguing with a fan?”

Romero, 15-2, went on to discuss at length the WBC champion’s reputation and the need to risk his career for a fight, adding: “You’re supposed to be this great boxer. This guy who has everything he’s got, you know… They know you, you don’t know them. Why are you fighting with them? Would you fight with someone you don’t know for no reason? Would you risk your career and your wealth, everything?”

The Las Vegas native knows the importance of a career and the importance of having gold around a boxer’s waist, so for him, Haney’s actions were something he couldn’t understand. However, Romero is fresh off a loss to Isaac Cruz that saw him lose the WBA crown, and is now gearing up for a win to get himself into title contention.

Rolando “Rolly” Romero aims for a knockout
