Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have “really good chances” to be ready in Week 1

Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have “really good chances” to be ready in Week 1

The Bills struggled with several injury concerns in August, but appear to be getting back on track as the regular season approaches.

Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters in his press conference on Wednesday that at this point only linebacker Matt Milano is definitely out for Week 1. He also shared some positive news about receivers Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

“I have the feeling that these two, from what I have heard so far, are a really good chance to be back“I haven’t decided on that yet,” McDermott said, via Alec White of the team’s website.

Samuel is struggling with turf toe, while Valdes-Scantling has a neck injury.

McDermott also noted that he believes quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (knee) and tight end Quintin Morris (shoulder) “will be hot on their heels.”

However, safety Terrell Burgess (hamstring), cornerback Taron Johnson (quadriceps) and offensive lineman Will Clapp (concussion protocol) are all dealing with new injuries. While Johnson has quad pain and is sitting out as a precaution, Burgess likely won’t play in Saturday’s final preseason game.

McDermott has already announced that the regular players will not play this weekend as they prepare for the game against the Cardinals in Week 1.
