Grand Forks father and son face federal charges for methamphetamine offenses – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks father and son originally charged in district court are now facing federal charges for allegedly possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell. The son also faces a weapons charge.

Nolli Hedaira Neal Sr., 51, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to resell and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to resell. The offenses carry a maximum sentence of 20 years.

Nolli Hedira Neal Jr., 33, faces the same charges as well as possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, a crime that carries a minimum sentence of five years.

According to court documents, the two men transported more than 500 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, and Nolli Neal Jr. sold about 315 grams of it on four dates. He is also accused of possessing a pistol and two rifles to finance his drug trafficking.

The two men were arrested and charged in Grand Forks County District Court in March. Their local charges have since been dropped after federal authorities began investigating earlier this summer.

Nolli Neal Sr. plans to plead guilty to both charges in exchange for a plea deal, but the length of his sentence will not be determined until the investigation is complete before sentencing.

Nolli Neal Sr. waives his right to appeal. His sentencing and waiver hearing is scheduled for October 31.

Nolli Neal Jr. maintains his innocence and is scheduled to appear in court on January 14.
