The Cora Kelly School of Mathematics, Science and Technology has a new principal to usher in the new school year.

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) announced earlier this month that Molly McCabe will follow in the footsteps of Jasibi Crews, who was named ACPS principal last year and left the school at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

An ACPS press release states that McCabe began teaching in 2004 and started at ACPS in 2014.

“Prior to becoming an administrator, McCabe was a second-grade teacher and group leader at John Adams Elementary School,” the press release states. “Prior to her teaching career, she worked for the national nonprofit Break Away, an organization focused on social justice, collaboration and leadership.”

According to ACPS, McCabe’s administrative career began in 2021 as the assistant principal of the Early Childhood Center at John Adams Elementary School. The press release said her role there is to welcome and empower families, celebrate the great diversity in the community, and support the youngest students as they grow and learn.

“I am delighted to welcome Molly McCabe as the new principal of the Cora Kelly School of Mathematics, Science and Technology. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment,” said Chief Academic Officer Dr. Pierrette Finney. “Her commitment to empowering students and engaging families in the learning process makes her an invaluable addition to our leadership team.”
