Obituary: Kelly, Patricia Ann Ables

Patricia Ann Ables Kelly, 83, peacefully departed her earthly life and received her heavenly wings on August 17, 2024, at Camden Clark Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Pat, or Patty Ann, was born on June 9, 1941, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, where her parents, Lawrence and Louise Ables, raised her along with her nine siblings.

She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1959 and maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates.

She lived in Davisville, West Virginia with her husband of 62 years, Carl Kelly. Early in her career, she worked at Midland Grocery and the road department, co-founded Paving with her husband Carl Kelly in 1978 and later All-Ways Paving in 1997 before retiring in 2012. Known for her kindness, generosity, and commitment to family and friends, she devoted countless hours to serving the community in a variety of roles and demonstrated a deep passion for helping others and bringing joy to those around her.

Not to forget her love of sweets, because she was always conjuring up something delicious in the kitchen.

Pat was a founding and active member of New Hope Baptist Church and had a special bond with her PALS (Prayers and Loving Sisters) group for 30 years.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Carl Kelly, and is survived by her son, Scott (Gina) Kelly, daughter, Mary Jo (Chris) Pedersen, sister, JoEllen (Richard) Hendrickson, and four grandchildren, Eric Kelly, Joey Kelly, Brittany (Chris) Lawhon and Grace Pedersen.

Her parents, four brothers and three sisters had already died before her.

Family and friends are invited to express condolences on Friday, August 23rd, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available in the Family Center during the wake and following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to New Hope Baptist Church, Jon Six Food Ministry or the United Way in memory of her generosity.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in South Parkersburg is honored to serve the Kelly family.
