The middle school teacher immediately checked outside his apartment complex on Woodforest Boulevard to see what the commotion was.

When he realized that it was a young girl in distress, he ran upstairs, grabbed his gun and left the front entrance of his property wearing only his underwear.

He told KHOU 11 about the ordeal: “I looked out the window and saw a man beating a woman who was on the ground and trying to take off her clothes.”

“I ran up the stairs, grabbed my gun, came outside and asked, ‘What’s going on?’ And the girl screamed, ‘I’m 15, help me.’ So I pointed my gun at him and told him to leave her alone.

“He immediately took his hands off her and chased after her, so I chased after him and she escaped and went to the apartment of someone she knew.”

Garza added, “I was scared, too. I’m not going to lie, but she needed more help than I feared, so I had to do it.

The incident was caught on camera and in the recording he can be heard shouting at the perpetrator: “Hey, hey, hey, come here” before running towards them.

One of Garza’s young neighbors praised his efforts and told the television station that he saved the teenager from being raped.

She said: “At first I was scared because I literally thought she was going to get raped. I think if he hadn’t come out, she probably would have been raped or something.”

Garza has since been called a local hero for preventing another attack.

It is believed that the teenager was on the bus with the attacker. When she got off, he followed her into the gated residential complex.

He launched his vicious attack in the community, where a neighbor who knows the girl told the news agency that she was on her way to visit a friend.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has released a photo of the man police want to speak to in connection with the attack.

They stated that at the time of the attack, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie with a white Reebok logo, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
