Mafia: The developer of The Old Country promises Sicilian dubbing and Italian subtitles

Mafia: The developer of The Old Country promises Sicilian dubbing and Italian subtitles

Mafia: The Old Country – the next game in Hangar 13’s Mafia series – was revealed earlier this week during Gamescom Opening Night Live. While the developer is keeping many details about the upcoming title under wraps, it has since confirmed that the game will feature Sicilian voice acting and Italian subtitles upon release.

“Authenticity is at the heart of the Mafia series,” the team shared on social media platform X. “Mafia: The Old Country will feature voice acting in Sicilian, in keeping with the game’s setting in 20th century Sicily. In addition, Italian language localization will be available both for the in-game UI and via subtitles.”

The news was met with great praise from other X users, as it was previously unclear whether these options would be implemented at release.

As you might have guessed, given the game’s name and Mafia’s post mentioning that the setting is set in the 20th century, The Old Country will take players further back in time than previous Mafia releases. It will feature a “gritty mafia story set in the brutal underworld of… Sicily” where players will “have to fight for survival in this dangerous and unforgiving era.”

Mafia: The Old Country is set to release sometime next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Hangar 13 has promised more details in December, so stay tuned.
