FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas football season begins in one week with an instate game against Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

The Razorbacks are entering a pivotal season. Sam Pittman, entering his fifth year as head coach, has a tight stranglehold. Arkansas is coming off a disastrous 2023 season that forced a shakeup of the roster and offensive coaching staff. Bobby Petrino is leading a new group of assistants looking to revitalize the program.

Pittman has exuded confidence during preseason practices that this year’s team is more talented, better prepared and has the chemistry needed to turn things around. Still, the SEC is a tough nut to crack and the Hogs have a challenging schedule to start the season.

Arkansas football predictions for the 2024 season

August 29: Arkansas vs. Arkansas Pine-Bluff (UAPB)

Location: War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock.

About the game: The Hogs are getting a light warm-up before one of the most important games of the entire season. This is a chance for Taylen Green and the offense to build some confidence, but the biggest goal is to come out injury-free. Raheim Sanders has been a shadow of his former self for all of 2023 after suffering a knee injury in this stadium.

Forecast: Arkansas 55, UAPB 10

September 7: Arkansas at Oklahoma State

Location: Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, Oklahoma.

About the game: The Hogs will face the No. 18 Cowboys in front of a sold-out crowd, their first big test of 2024. Ollie Gordon is one of the best running backs in the country and will be a good gauge for Arkansas’ defense. The Hogs will score, but Oklahoma State will have enough firepower to avoid the upset.

Forecast: Oklahoma State 37, Arkansas 31.

September 14: UAB at Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: Last year’s struggles against Kent State were the first signs of what could be a rough season, and the Hogs need to avoid a similar assessment in their first game against Fayetteville in 2024. UAB’s Jacob Zeno is a dynamic quarterback and the Blazers are explosive, but this should be a comfortable win for the Razorbacks.

Forecast: Arkansas 41, UAB 17.

September 21: Arkansas at Auburn

Location: Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, Alabama.

About the game: The Tigers humiliated the 2023 Razorbacks, rushing for 364 yards in a 48-10 road win. The Arkansas team limped toward the finish line while this year’s team is out for revenge, but Auburn still has the home-field advantage and better talent. A close game ends in the Tigers’ favor.

Forecast: Auburn 27, Arkansas 24.

September 28: Arkansas vs. Texas A&M

Location: AT&T Stadium, Dallas.

About the game: This could be a crucial game for both teams. Arkansas is 2-2 according to these projections and the Aggies could easily have two losses by then with games against Notre Dame and Florida in the first four weeks. The Hogs have struggled mightily in this series, but they will end the AT&T Stadium era of the rivalry with a win that will give the program a huge boost.

Forecast: Arkansas 29, Texas A&M 23

October 5: Tennessee in Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: This will be only the third meeting between the two schools in the last decade, with Arkansas currently having won three straight games against the Volunteers. Can the Hogs do enough in the first five weeks to get fans excited for the SEC home opener? We say yes, and Arkansas gets its decisive win of the season in close fashion.

Forecast: Arkansas 30, Tennessee 27

October 19: LSU at Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: This could be another top seed for an upset for Arkansas, as the Hogs were coming off a break and LSU played Texas A&M the week before. These games have historically been close, even when Arkansas was trailing, and that shouldn’t change in 2024. Still, LSU will be the favorite to leave Fayetteville with the win.

Forecast: LSU 35, Arkansas 24

October 26: Arkansas at Mississippi State

Location: Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, Mississippi.

About the game: Last year’s loss to Mississippi State was arguably the low point of the season and led to the firing of Dan Enos. The Bulldogs are entering a new era under head coach Jeff Lebby, but it will be a few years before they can reap the rewards of their labor. The Hogs are coming off a key road win in the SEC that puts them on the path to bowl appearances.

Forecast: Arkansas 34, Mississippi State 23

November 2: Ole Miss at Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: The Rebels have national championship aspirations this year and will need to beat Arkansas to keep those hopes alive. That will mean a reunion with former Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr., and the transfer portal firepower that Lane Kiffin has amassed will be too much for the Hogs to handle.

Forecast: Ole Miss 38, Arkansas 17

November 16: Texas vs. Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: Arkansas has its second open week before this game and is motivated to recreate the magic of three years ago when the Hogs beat the Longhorns 40-21 in front of a packed home crowd. The Hogs will keep it close, but the Longhorns’ NFL talent is an asset.

Forecast: Texas 34, Arkansas 28

November 23: Louisiana Tech at Arkansas

Location: Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville.

About the game: Two straight home losses will slow the momentum somewhat, but the Hogs will reach a major milestone by securing a postseason spot with a win over Louisiana Tech. This could be a big moment for Sam Pittman, guaranteeing a two-win improvement over last year and taking some pressure off ahead of the Border Line Rivalry that closes out the regular season.

Forecast: Arkansas 44, Louisiana Tech 21

November 30: Arkansas in Missouri

Location: Memorial Stadium, Columbia, Missouri.

About the game: Arkansas has never won a true road game against Missouri, and thanks to one of the easiest schedules in the SEC, the Tigers could find themselves in a situation where a win over the Hogs will secure them a spot in the College Football Playoff. This game will be much closer than last year’s hair-raising result, but Eliah Drinkwitz will continue his dominance over the Razorbacks.

Forecast: Missouri 27, Arkansas 23
