Daniel Kelly has improved his contract offer for Celtic while Bayer Leverkusen consider a transfer

Daniel Kelly will meet with Celtic this week for further contract talks – despite interest from invincible Bayer Leverkusen.

The Academy Player of the Year has a number of suitors across Europe, with Xabi Alonso’s side keen to learn the price the Hoops are demanding for the starlet. Sources in Germany have clarified Football Scotland that the 18-year-old is considered a serious talent for his age group and Leverkusen is hoping for a transfer.

The Hoops, on the other hand, are determined to keep the playmaker and there is a belief within the club that they can be successful in the talks and convince Kelly to commit his future to Parkhead.

This would put the Scottish champions in a much stronger position should they start next season under manager Brendan Rodgers, and a potential transfer would entail a higher fee. It is currently believed that the compensation package would be just under £500,000.

Rodgers counts Kelly as a regular starter, having featured him in Premiership matches this season against Hearts, Livingston, St. Johnstone and Dundee, where he scored his first top-flight goal against the Dees.
