The Milwaukee Brewers failed to extend their winning streak to seven games after suffering a 10-6 overtime loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium. The Brewers already had another win in sight as they took a two-run lead into the ninth inning with the ever-reliable Devin Williams on the mound trying to close the game out.
Williams struggled, however, allowing two earned runs on one hit and three walks, blowing a save. He was replaced by Trevor Megill, who did no better. Megill walked two hitters before Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off grand slam to end the night and give the Cardinals the win.

Fans have been attacked for Williams’ unusually poor performance on the mound against the Cardinals:

“Devin Williams lost control and did it fast. He lets Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham walk and forces two runs. The game is tied. The bases are still loaded with two outs and Masyn Winn can walk this win.”
