Black Twitter reacts to Michelle Obama’s epic DNC speech

CHICAGO: The second night of the Democratic National Convention was full of special cultural momentsFrom Patti LaBelle singing “You Are My Friend” during the in memoriam portion of the program to Lil Jon’s surprise appearance at the convention vote, the second night felt lighter and more lively. as the evening before.

Former President Bernie Sanders criticized billionaires and Second Gentleman of the United States Doug Emhoff shared fond anecdotes about his wife and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. But the biggest moments of the evening were the speeches by former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Barack stressed that Vice President Harris is our next hope before ridiculing Trump’s dangerous and ridiculous antics that have been rampant for years. He called the Republican candidate exactly what he is: “a 78-year-old billionaire who hasn’t stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago.”

The former president also chided Trump for his “childish nicknames and crazy conspiracy theories and his weird obsession with crowd size,” while holding his hands a few inches apart to joke about crowd anatomy. Barack delivered his speech with his trademark charm and cool, but Michelle seemed to have more fire in her belly as she walked onto the stage right in front of him.

While her husband was relaxed about Trump’s policies, Michelle was more scathing in describing the racist attacks the couple faced at the hands of Trump, who constantly questioned Barack’s citizenship throughout his presidency.

“For years, Donald Trump has done everything in his power to make people afraid of us,” Michelle said. “You see, his narrow, limited view of the world has led him to feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happen to be black.”

“I want to know – I want to know – who is going to tell him, who is going to tell him that the job he is currently looking for might be one of those black jobs?”

Michelle was referring to Trump’s recent comments that Immigrants take “Black jobs.” On Twitter, user @acnewsitics was furious, writing, “Michelle Obama has got everyone so bad right now!” along with a GIF of a group of young black people losing their minds.

Imani Gandy, known as @AngryBlackLady, posted a tweet describing how Michelle Obama almost tried to outdo herself, and the famous @KeithBoykin simply posted a quote from Michelle’s powerful speech.

The former First Lady also strongly condemned Donald Trump’s behavior, which has earned him a disturbing cult following.

“It’s still his old scam. Still his old scam. He’s relying on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that would actually improve people’s lives,” she said.

In the end, Michelle praised Harris for offering empathy, compassion and a better future for America.

“Kamala has shown her commitment to this nation not by spreading anger and bitterness, but by living a life of service to others and always opening the doors of opportunity for others,” she said.

“(Harris) understands that most of us will never be granted the grace to fail forward. We will never benefit from the positive discrimination of generational wealth.”
