John Simms Drama gracebased on the bestselling novels by Peter James, will return to ITV for its fourth season on Sunday 1st September at 8pm on ITV1, it has been officially confirmed
Although it is a British show, grace Season 4 actually aired first in America over the summer, leaving fans in the UK wondering if it would ever appear on ITV.
But now they finally know that Simm is returning for more dark cases as DS John Grace alongside Richie Campbell as DS Glenn Branson. Also returning are Craig Parkinson (Exercise of duty) as DS Norman Potting, Zoë Tapper (Liar) as Cleo Morey, Laura Elphinstone (Exercise of duty) as DS Bella Moy, Brad Morrison (dinosaur) as DC Nick Nicholl and Sam Hoare (The Capture) as ACC Cassian Pewe and Clare Calbraith as Grace’s estranged wife Sandy.
Sherwood Actor Robert Glenister — the brother of Simm‘S Life on Mars Co-star Philip Glenister – Guest appearance in the first episode as a character named Gavin Daly.
ITV gives a taste of the opening story: “The first film in the new series is called ‘Dead Man’s Time’. A brutal robbery at a remote Brighton house draws Grace and Branson into a mysterious investigation when beautiful antiques worth thousands of pounds are stolen from the house. As Grace delves deeper into this mysterious crime, he encounters a web of ancient grudges – a web that leads him on a dark, murderous trail through the world of Brighton antiques. In a race against time, he must find out who is behind this robbery and provide Gavin Daly with the answers he has been desperately seeking for many years.”
ITV will have adapted 12 of Peter James’ 19 Roy Grace novels when the fourth series ends, so there’s a chance of a fifth series and Simm told us he’s enjoyed producing the series, especially now that he lives in Brighton where it’s filmed.
“Moving here has really helped me immerse myself in the world of Grace. We film all over Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas, so I know where I am a bit better now.”
Grace period 4 starts on Sunday 1st September at 8pm on ITV1 (see our TV Guide for the full schedule).
