Kick-off with a workshop on youth entrepreneurship

DENVER, August 21, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Lemonade Day, an established national nonprofit that empowers young children through an experiential entrepreneurship program, is expanding. The organization announced it is launching a Lemonade Day chapter in Denver, Colorado to bring this empowering experience to even more children. Since 2007, Lemonade Day has empowered more than 1.5 million young, resilient children and increased their growth mindset by 85%.

“Lemonade Day brings children in grades K-8th to entrepreneurship by combining the simple yet profound experience of a lemonade stand with important lessons and insights,” explained Nicole Cassier-Mason, CEO of Lemonade Day National. “By planting the seed of entrepreneurship in children, we foster the skills, agency, and growth mindset they need for their future. We envision a world where every child’s innate potential is unleashed through entrepreneurship, inspiring them to lead, innovate, and positively impact their communities and themselves.”

Lemonade Day transforms the classic lemonade stand into a dynamic entrepreneurial adventure, giving every child the tools and confidence to start their own business, learn valuable skills, and enjoy the sweet taste of success. The organization’s program weaves a rich learning spectrum and connects entrepreneurship, financial savvy, and life skills to each child’s journey, transforming the lemonade stand into a fun classroom without walls. To strengthen the backbone of Lemonade Day, the local leadership team gives partners and philanthropic supporters the resources and insights needed to foster a youth entrepreneurship ecosystem, building a support network that moves youth, their families, and the entire community forward.

It has been proven that communities that support Lemonade Day benefit just as much as the children and their adult mentors. “Our goal is to mobilize community leaders, volunteers, businesses, youth organizations, schools and faith-based institutions to encourage youth entrepreneurship,” said Carolina Lizzio, Denver Lemonade Day Market Manager. “Together, we inspire citizens to support each lemonade stand, laying the foundation for future success and civic engagement.”

To kick off the national organization’s expansion to Denver, Lemonade Day is hosting a youth entrepreneurship workshop called Lemonade Day University (also known as LemonU) for 150 children at Young Americans Bank on Saturday, September 28.th9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

At LemonU, children will learn how to set goals, develop a business plan and budget, and create a branding and marketing plan. They will learn about safe locations, hygiene, and customer service to maximize profits. Children will pitch their plan to receive a microloan investment of $30-$50 and will also have a chance to win free tools and materials to help them put their plan into action and achieve their dreams. Trained instructors will train the youth on how to spend spending some of their hard-earned money on themselves; save some invest in their future by opening a bank account, and share some with a charity of their choice. LemonU graduates leave the workshop armed and ready to launch their business and gain a public sales experience – on a day of their family’s choosing.
