Greenville celebrates its Old Home Day and Town Picnic on Saturday, August 24, at the Town Field with kids’ crafts, a flea market, farmers market, picnic and live music.

Events run from 9am to 3pm, rainy days excluded. The flea market and farmers market open at 9am and run throughout the day.

There will be a tie-dye station from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children ages 14 and younger will receive a free T-shirt (while supplies last). Alternatively, residents can bring their own items to tie-dye.

At 11 a.m. Marshall Buttrick will give a historical lecture on Greenville’s mills. He will repeat the lecture at 1 p.m.

At noon, there will be an old-fashioned town picnic with potluck menus. Guests can bring a dish to share with friends and neighbors while Select Board members and other volunteers prepare burgers and hot dogs on the grill.

From 12pm to 2pm there will be live music with Heath Lewis playing a mix of blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll.

At 12:30 p.m. the pool opens for water and deck activities. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. there are arts and crafts activities for children on the Town Field.

At 2:30 p.m. there will be a cake eating contest for children and adults and the cake baking competition will also be judged. Registrations for the cake baking competition must be submitted to the MascenicSAU office next to the field by 2:00 p.m.
