Myles Murphy will miss several weeks of joint training between the Bengals and Colts after an injury

Update: According to James Rapien and Mike Garafolo, Bengals defensive end Myles Murphy will only be out for a few weeks due to his knee injury.

With the regular season opener still over two weeks away, there appears to be a chance he could play in Week 1 against the Patriots.

Still, it’s great to hear that Murphy’s season isn’t over yet. He’s poised to play a big role on this defense in year two.

The Cincinnati Bengals are holding their breath after Myles Murphy suffered an injury during practice with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.

Towards the end of practice, Murphy suffered what appeared to be a non-contact knee injury and was immediately examined by trainers.

Murphy was eventually able to walk to the cart and left the practice field for further evaluation. His ability to stand and walk under his own power was encouraging, although very cautious.

If Murphy were to be out for any length of time, the Bengals’ defense would be virtually limited to Trey Hendrickson, Sam Hubbard, Joseph Ossai and Cedric Johnson, assuming the latter makes the 53-man roster after a solid training camp and preseason.

We will update this post as more details become available.
