The LEGO Harry Potter Collector’s Edition “The Burrow” (76437) includes the entire Weasley clan – and opens up new possibilities for the theme.

76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition is the first-ever LEGO Harry Potter set to feature all nine Weasleys. That’s nine family members, not eight as viewers who only watch the movies might think. Charlie Weasley, the dragon-taming, tattooed second eldest brother, never made it into the films. In fact, eldest son Bill only made an appearance in the last two films.

Although none of the brothers ever attended Hogwarts at the same time as Harry, he did spend some time with them at the Burrow during the summer, and even more in the later books at meetings of the Order of the Phoenix and the like. It’s rare for the LEGO Harry Potter theme to be inspired by the books rather than the films – but it’s nothing unusual.

This isn’t even the first time we’ve seen a LEGO-fied Charlie Weasley, as he made at least one digital appearance in the LEGO Harry Potter: Years Five to Seven video game. However, it’s no secret that the LEGO Group tends to use the Warner Bros films as inspiration, as opposed to the books. LEGO Design Master Marcos Bessa addressed this back in 2021 when speaking to Tips & Bricks.

“We work primarily with the movies – that’s our contract with WB, so it’s our reference material,” Marcos explained. “Sets like the Hogwarts common rooms, for example, are unlikely, as only the Gryffindor common room is often seen in the movies.”

In the case of Charlie Weasley, it makes sense that this is the set he makes his debut in. 76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition wouldn’t feel right as the ultimate version of the Weasley family home without all of their canonical children. However, looking beyond this set, it also leaves the door open for more future possibilities.

There are many characters who only appear in books and have never been seen on screen. Could the inclusion of Charlie Weasley, who has only existed in the pages of the books so far, leave room for more? Could we see a black and yellow striped Ludo Bagman in a future Quidditch set? Could Winky the house elf appear alongside Dobby if we ever get a set of the Hogwarts kitchens? Is there a chance we’ll finally see Peeves in LEGO form?

We wouldn’t hope for any of this to actually happen, but it feels like it’s more likely today than it did a few days ago.

I write about the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
