Kim Mulkey’s old comments about Caitlin Clark are going viral again for good reason

Caitlin Clark is on fire in her rookie season in the WNBA, as evidenced in her two big games since the league’s Olympic break ended. She’s led the Indiana Fever to play their best basketball of the year, winning four of their last five games, and suddenly the team looks like it could be a problem in the playoffs.

Clark’s scoring was never a problem, but there’s another aspect of her game that was just as good – her passing, which consistently set up easy baskets for her teammates. The former Iowa defender is so good at distributing the ball that she broke the WNBA record for assists in her rookie season on Sunday.

Clark’s success has brought a quote from Kim Mulkey back into the headlines. The LSU coach raved about her last April after losing to Iowa in the Elite Eight.

“She’s just a player of a generation and she makes everyone around her better,” Mulkey said. That’s what the greats do. I think they had a kid that scored 21 and 18 points, (Clark) had 12 assists. Caitlin Clark isn’t going to beat you on her own. It’s what she does to make her other teammates better that helps her score points and them score points to beat you.”

And she’s not wrong. Clark continues to make all her teammates better and score big baskets when she needs to. And now the Fever are on the rise.

Fans liked Mulkey’s old comments:

Clark and the Fever are back in action on Saturday night when they travel to Minnesota to face the Lynx.
