This exquisite mask, handcrafted by Malakai in collaboration with the World Gold Council for amfAR Venezia 2024, features 40 golden rays of light for the approximately 40 million people currently living with HIV. The rays are adorned with 79 gemstones and pearls, the atomic number of gold, symbolizing the precious metal’s fascinating role in the fight against disease. The entire piece is plated with responsibly sourced gold.
Malakai’s wearable art, millinery and jewelry have captivated celebrities such as Rihanna, Madonna and FKA twigs. Malakai is the creator of the iconic headpiece for Beyoncé, which was showcased during her unforgettable Grammy performance of “Love Drought” in 2017.
