Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the upcoming documentary series Nothing but a good time: The uncensored history of 80s hair metalwhich will premiere exclusively on the streamer on September 17th.

You can watch the trailer below.

Nothing but a good time is based on the 2021 book of the same name by Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour, a 500+ page oral history that offers an in-depth look at the hard rock explosion of the ’80s. The docuseries promises the same, showcasing Poison, Def Leppard, Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, Skid Row, WASP, Great White and more.

“Experience the ’80s hair metal phenomenon that thrilled generations of music lovers and continues to influence culture today,” says the official description. “Directed by Jeff Tremaine (Donkey, The dirt), the three-part series explores the notoriously wild hard rock phenomenon of the ’80s and features interviews with those who lived it, including Bret Michaels, Stephen Pearcy, Nuno Bettencourt, Dave ‘Snake’ Sabo and Riki Rachtman, as well as Corey Taylor and Steve-O and many others.”

“I feel like I’m dying, so I probably shouldn’t be in this band”

“The ’80s were an exciting time in music – it was incredible,” Michaels says in the trailer. “We bet on ourselves, and when it paid off, it was great.” But as anyone even remotely familiar with the ’80s hard rock scene knows, what went up inevitably had to come down.

“It was just a great time,” says Alan Niven, former manager of Guns N’ Roses and Great White, in the trailer. “Not the damn life I lived.” Immediately afterward, LA Guns guitarist Tracii Guns muses, “I feel like I’m dying, so I probably shouldn’t be in this band.”

Nothing but a good time is the second 80s hard rock documentary series to appear on Paramount+ in just over a year, following last summer’s documentary I Wanna Rock: The Metal Dream of the 80s.
