Delegates of the WI Democrats discuss the future of their party at the end of the second day of the DNC

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Many speakers who took the stage Tuesday talked about the future of the Democratic Party.

President Biden also addressed this message on Monday, and it resonated with delegates.

But after everything that has happened to the party in recent months, will the excitement continue into November?

So we headed to the convention on Tuesday to speak to delegates like Arvina Martin, who described the first two days of the convention as indescribable.

“It is joy, relief and hope,” Martin said.

“What America saw last night was the heart of Joe Biden,” said Terrell Martin, a delegate who watched Biden’s speech and believes it will re-energize the party behind Kamala Harris.”

“Once we elect Kamala Harris as president, you will see our country move forward,” Martin said.

A party that just a few weeks ago feared its candidate no longer had enough power to win in November is now confident that the torch has been passed to the next party.

“I think that’s really indicative of where we stand as a party,” Martin said.

“We are so excited to be part of the movement again. Hearing President Obama tonight brought back that excitement, and it’s been magnified because we’re looking to the future and moving away from what we had before,” said Madison resident Luxme Harharin.

For these delegates at least, concern has been replaced by something else. “It’s exciting, people are excited, they’re ready to go, they’re excited about the future,” Martin said.
