Jackson County Primary Election Results

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Jackson County held its primary election on Tuesday.

“We had 12 days of early voting, and I think it was pretty busy. We had a really good turnout. Today was extremely busy across the county,” said Carol A. Dunaway, Jackson County Elections Supervisor.

On Tuesday, Rebecca Morris-Haid was elected Jackson County Property Appraiser.

“I’m very grateful to the district and their support through all of this. It’s been a long road after losing my parents last year. It’s flown by and this district has supported me the whole time,” Morris-Haid said.

Jamey Westbrook won the seat for Jackson County 5th District Commissioner.

“I’m grateful to the people who voted for me because they had faith in me. I had to fight a pretty tough campaign to win. My hometown means the most to me and it always will. We have a lot of good people who need to be helped and I will do my best to help them,” Westbrook said.

In addition, incumbent Sheriff Donnie Edenfield won the Republican primary, so the general election will now take place in November.

“Relieved, grateful, thankful. It is an honor to be the sheriff of this county. This is an incredible county. A huge support and I am grateful and thankful for it. It is humbling. We are grateful to have come out on top tonight. One is done, one is missing. My focus is to serve the citizens of Jackson County and make Jackson County the safest county in the state of Florida, that is my goal,” said Sheriff Edenfield.
