Devin White explains why he joined Howie Roseman and the Eagles

Never underestimate a competitor. Philadelphia Eagles fans probably know this better than anyone. We’ve seen and heard that records don’t matter when two rivals meet. We also know that upsets can happen on any given Sunday.

It doesn’t matter if your team is 10-0 and the opposition is 0-10, and the other team has NFL players on their roster. If you play long enough, you’ll still lose to a team that’s better than you.

Each roster is made up of individual players, each with a story, which leads us to one that is currently being written: Devin White’s comeback attempt and his redemptive story.

If you’ve followed Devin White’s career, you know this isn’t just any season. The former fifth-round pick was the best defensive player on the field during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory, and now he was on the bench during a Wild Card playoff game in which the Bucs happened to host the Eagles.

Two months later, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal. But how the heck did that happen? It sounds like he and Howie Roseman discovered that they were carbon copies of each other in some ways.

Remember when Chip Kelly buried Howie in the engineering room? Remember Jason Kelce’s speech admitting he hadn’t seen Roseman in over a year? Maybe Kelce said it best. When he returned to power after Kelly’s departure, a different Howie Roseman returned.

That sounds like Devin’s story, doesn’t it? The 2020 Second-Team All-Pro and 2021 Pro Bowler recently appeared on The pivotal point to explain how he ended up in Philadelphia.

The next time someone tells you Howie Roseman isn’t the best GM in the NFL, do us a favor. Be sure to remind them of stories like this one.

Trust us. You have a wide choice.

So how do we see this all going? We think it’s actually going to go pretty well. There were some initial difficulties, but Howie has made the most of his second (and third) chances. Devin will do the same. He’ll make the most of his second chance and have a great season in the Eagles’ green.

Remember what we told you before. It is unwise to ever write off a competitor.
