Boerne faces undefeated Henderson in Little League World Series showdown

WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania. – Boerne’s All-Star baseball team is one win away from securing a spot in the tournament’s U.S. final in the Little League World Series.

Boerne, who represents the Southwest Region of the LLWS, has already won two games in the tournament. His opponents have scored just one run so far.

In Boerne’s LLWS opener, the team dominated Newtown, Pennsylvania, by a final score of 9-0. Boerne tied the game in the fifth inning after Kole Newson hit a grand slam.

Starting pitcher Caden Guffey, who had hit a solo home run earlier in the game, allowed just two hits and struck out three Newtown players in two innings pitched. Lead pitcher Julian Hurst recorded 10 strikeouts in the win. Boerne beat Newtown 12-2.

In Boerne’s next game, the team faced Lake Mary, Florida, in the quarterfinals of the US Little League World Series. In the 4-1 victory, Boerne benefited from strong pitching by Hurst, who struck out ten batters in a complete game.

Boerne came out on top in the third inning of the game against Lake Mary, scoring two runs. Lake Mary struggled defensively after their top pitcher was taken off the field.

On Wednesday afternoon, Boerne and the All-Stars from Henderson, Nevada, will battle it out to see who can remain undefeated in the LLWS.

Both teams have two wins and no losses so far. A loss for either team would therefore not result in elimination from the tournament.

Although Henderson faced fewer hits in his team’s final game against Wailuku, Hawaii, they managed to hold on to the final score of 3-2.

Henderson’s strongest performance in the LLWS so far came last week against Staten Island, when the team earned a 9-1 victory.

The Boerne-Henderson game begins at 2:00 p.m. CST on ESPN.
