Epic Universe tickets are making many Universal Orlando fans freak out. Why everyone needs to calm the hell down

Epic Universe tickets are making many Universal Orlando fans freak out. Why everyone needs to calm the hell down

We don’t yet know exactly when Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe will open to the public. We do know that it will debut in summer 2025, so currently only about a year away. While Epic Universe has revealed a lot of information about what’s coming to the park, fans want to know when they’ll actually be able to experience it, and when some of those details leaked, a lot of people weren’t happy.

Some details have emerged about the travel packages being offered for Universal Orlando Resort that include access to Epic Universe. While the most interesting question – when these packages will be valid – is still unknown, it is a cause for panic for fans that the packages reportedly only offer a single day at the brand new theme park, while multi-day tickets require guests to visit Universal Orlando’s other two locations as well. But people need to calm down.

The first information about Epic Universe tickets drives fans crazy

The idea that guests might have to buy tickets for multiple days to see Epic Universe, including tickets to other theme parks they may not even want to visit, received the expected reaction by theme park fans on social media – this is an absolute and total freak of epic (universe) proportions. But everyone needs to calm the fuck down, because it’s not that bad.

The packages being reported are specifically offered to third-party ticket sellers, including travel agents. These are the people you turn to when you’re planning a vacation and not just visiting a theme park. While some vacationers may want to plan a trip to Universal Orlando specifically to visit Epic Universe, most will want to do other things as well, and of course Universal wants them to visit the other parks.

Most vacationers will spend several days at Universal Orlando. Epic Universe, as much as people want to experience everything and enjoy every detail, is not a place where you need to spend a week just to try every single attraction, and no one except the obsessed really cares about trying every single attraction.

These are tickets for specific groups of people planning specific types of travel. The idea that these will be the only tickets available for days, weeks or months is completely absurd. The fact that these are the first tickets we’re hearing about means nothing.

Tickets for Epic Universe are available before the park opens

The exact opening date of Epic Universe is unknown, but if it’s less than a year away now, then it’s just about there. At the time of this writing, you can only buy tickets to visit Universal Orlando until April 2025. It will be at least a couple of months before tickets are available for June, the first month of summer, and if Epic Universe doesn’t open until August or even early September, which is still the end of summer, it will be another two months.

Standard tickets will be available for Epic Universe. The idea that you can’t buy a ticket to the new theme park and not visit it is crazy. For locals who only want to spend a day or two at the new park, or vacationers who want to have their own experience, those options will certainly exist. There’s just no reason to give this information to travel agents, as no one is going to buy a one-day ticket to a single park through a travel agent.

There will probably be some restrictions at first, but that is to be expected

But that’s not to say there probably won’t be some unfortunate and annoying limitations in the first few months of Epic Universe. From what we know, tickets that allow guests to transfer between parks probably won’t include Epic Universe. Existing UOR Annual Passes probably won’t include access to Epic Universe, and new passes probably won’t include the new park for some time.

Tickets for Epic Universe will likely be date-locked. This will likely lead to the dreaded “theme park reservations” that Walt Disney World still offers to Annual Passholders and Disneyland still offers to everyone. While those parks definitely shouldn’t be doing that this post-pandemic year, Epic Universe will want to manage daily crowds as best it can – at least until it sees what a “normal” crowd looks like at the brand new park.

This is done purely to control crowds and ensure that people who purchase special tickets for Epic Universe are not deprived of a good experience by being crowded out. Visiting Epic Universe may require a little more work and money for many guests to get through the gate. However, Universal Orlando wants people to get through the gate and will make the ticket purchase as easy as possible.

It’s way too early to get too excited about Epic Universe

It’s understandable why so many have been paying attention to this ticket information. Theme park fans are dying to get into Epic Universe. A new attraction or theme park area is something fans experience every now and then, but it’s far from normal for there to be entirely new theme parks. Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the last major theme park to open in Orlando, turned 25 this year. It’s been that long.

Major theme park operators are focusing on foreign markets, including the Middle East, when developing new parks. Completely new parks just don’t happen that often in the U.S., so we’re pretty excited.

And Epic Universe looks incredible. All the details we have about the new Dark Universe land and the Celestial Gardens, not to mention How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, seem like cause for excitement. The only land that hasn’t been fully revealed yet is Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, and it should be just as fun as the other Wizarding World lands and attractions.

I can’t promise that getting into Epic Universe will be easy or cheap, but you’re much more likely to have trouble buying tickets because tickets aren’t available than you are to have trouble because individual tickets aren’t on sale.
