Owner Maricsa Trejo said The lawyer that while she is on duty in Richardson, her husband Alex will be on site for the opening Friday morning. La Casita Coffee will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The James Beard Award-nominated pastry chef’s new concept was originally announced earlier this year and will serve only coffee and pastries — which will be baked in Richardson — for the first few months. After that, Trejo plans to get her liquor license to open a full-fledged tiki bar/restaurant serving hot food and tropical cocktails.

“It will be like a mix of Pacific Island food,” Trejo said recently The lawyer. “Asian food, Vietnamese, Korean and Mexican food.”

Trejo also plans to open a location in Uptown sometime in November. The HPB location will be La Casita’s first in Dallas proper, with locations already in Richardson and Rowlett.

La Casita Coffee is located at 5803 E Northwest Hwy.
