Dispute leads to shooting at Bossier High School

Anthony Hughes, 43, is recovering after he was shot last night near the Bossier High School football stadium during a spirit event. Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Matt Gaydos said Hughes got into an altercation with some youths during the event that led to a fight in the parking lot. Gaydos said 32-year-old Marcus Kelly shot Hughes and then the two were involved in a car crash…

“They then jumped into their cars and drove down the street near the school called Bearkat Dr. Our officers stopped Mr. Kelly’s car when Mr. Hughes rammed the rear of Kelly’s vehicle

Gaydos says police responded quickly and prevented further violence. Gaydos says this is highly unusual for Bossier and they want to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again…

“I’m sure our school administration and leadership will come together and think about what we can do better. There is always room for improvement.”

Both were taken to Ochsner LSU Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Kelly was released, then arrested and taken to Bossier Maximum Security Prison, where he was booked.

“Attempted premeditated murder, illegal possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a weapon on school property.”

Following Hughes’ release from the hospital, a warrant for his arrest was issued for aggravated criminal damage, and Kelly’s bail was set at $305,000.
