Alabama announced its team captains for the 2024 season on Tuesday.
After the Crimson Tide’s 16 preseason training sessions, head coach Kalen DeBoer revealed which four players were chosen by their teammates as permanent captains. They were Offensive Lineman Tyler BookerLinebackers Deontae Lawsonquarterback Jalen Milroe and security Malachi MooreMilroe and Moore were both named captains of the 2023 Alabama team.
This is a new development in Alabama. While Nick SabanDuring ‘s tenure, players chose their captains after the regular season and they were announced at the team’s awards banquet the Sunday after the SEC Championship game, but now that happened before the season.
In addition to being leaders, Alabama captains participate in the pregame coin toss and are celebrated on the UA campus as their hand and football prints are immortalized in cement each spring in the shadow of Denny Chimes along with those of all former captains.
