After a 4-0 win over the Great Lakes Region on Sunday morning, the Staten Island Little League team representing the Metro Region in the Little League World Series will play again today for advancement in the tournament.

Today, however, they are playing a night game in Williamsport, PA, but according to manager Bob Laterza, that’s not a problem. He told the Post, “If we could move that to 9 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., we would be very grateful. We love night games. We’re a night team.”

They will face the team from Lake Mary, Florida, that lost to Boerne, Texas last night. Staten Island, on the other hand, is in top form.

The offense shone in the games against South Dakota and Illinois last weekend; Dylan DeGaeta and Nicholas McLean both have a batting average of .667 and were able to hit 4 of 6 in the first three games of the tournament.

The pitching was also solid, with Vincent Ruggiero and Jake Romero allowing a combined three runs in two games this weekend.

It’s win or lose for Staten Island tonight, and you can watch the game on ESPN.
