The South Carolina Gamecocks are clear favorites over Old Dominion in their first week encounter.

The start of the 2024 college football season is just around the corner. Week Zero begins this Saturday with a game between Florida State and Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland. The following week, the new season will be in full swing and the South Carolina Gamecocks will open their season against Old Dominion.

Last season, South Carolina had a big game in Week 1 when they faced North Carolina on neutral ground. This season, they can take it easy. According to Draft Kings, South Carolina is currently listed as a 20-point favorite against Old Dominion. The over/under is set at 54.5 points.

It’s worth noting that South Carolina only won two games by more than 20 points last season. Those two games were against Vanderbilt and Furman, so Old Dominion certainly fits the mold of those types of games. However, it’s week one and South Carolina will have a new quarterback under contract this season in Spencer Rattler, who is now in the NFL, but its Gamecock team has something to prove in the 2024 season.

This is the first time South Carolina and Old Dominion have faced each other in a football game. Last season, the Monarchs finished 6-7 and nearly surprised Wake Forest, losing to Western Kentucky in the Famous Toastery Bowl. South Carolina vs. Old Dominion begins at 4:15 p.m.
