Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer reacts to Jenn’s hometowns

Every week during The BacheloretteHost Jesse Palmer will answer a few questions about Jenn’s “journey” in search of “love.” Today, Jesse shares his thoughts via email on Jeremy and Jenn’s date at the grocery store, why acknowledging a significant other’s pet is so important, and more.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: In Houston, Devin introduced Jenn to the other “woman” in his life: his dog Charlie. In your professional opinion, is it automatically grounds for a breakup if a person’s partner doesn’t get along with their pet, or vice versa?

JESSE PALMER: This is a real deal breaker, and if they don’t get along, the date should be called off immediately. The only exception to this rule is if the pet is a king cobra.

We already know from this series that “love is like a leap of faith,” but now it’s time for you to answer a question Devin asked Jenn: “Do you think love is like a sprint or a marathon?” Why?

I think the right answer is both! Love in its early stages often starts off hot and heavy right from the start. Sprinters, however, can run out of steam, as can many relationships that are constantly going full throttle. I think most long-lasting relationships are marathons, slow and steady, and under control through all the ups and downs.

Jeremy took Jenn on a glamorous shopping spree…to Stew Leonard’s. What’s the most low-key place you’ve ever gone on a date?

During filming, (my wife) Emely and I drove past a goat farm and spontaneously decided to get out and visit them. We were allowed to feed and pet them, and they nibbled on our clothes. It was strangely very funny and at the same time very relaxed.

Jenn went on each date hoping to learn more from each of the guys about how they really felt – and in the end, she got that validation. What do you think helped the guys open up more about their feelings when spending time with family?

I think when the boys feel accepted by their family and friends, it makes it easier for them to open up to Jenn and express their feelings.

The men all looked devastated when Jeremy didn’t get a rose. How would you describe the mood in the room when you walked in and asked him to say goodbye?

Each rose ceremony gets harder for Jenn and for the men too. It’s such a unique moment because while the men are excited to deepen their relationship with Jenn, they’re also sad to see a friend go home.
