Kelly Ripa from “Live” jokes about her escape attempt when her mother wouldn’t let her cross the street: Four left-handers “And then I was back home”

As summer draws to a close, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos decided to take a trip down memory lane on Tuesday. Live with Kelly and Mark.

“Would your mother have let you leave the house with your friends and then you would have shown up for dinner that night?” Consuelos asked his wife and co-host. “Those were the summer days I had.”

He remembered riding his bike with his friends in the morning.

“You know, up to no good, going into an abandoned building, rescuing a cat,” he teased.

Ripa interjected: “Which abandoned buildings did you go into?”

Consuelos admitted: “I think of this film Stand by Me.”

After Ripa noted that she had previously visited Consuelos’ hometown with him, Consuelos corrected herself.

“A barn. An abandoned barn,” he claimed. “It was a farming town.”

While Ripa claimed she “didn’t see any barns there” and he “lived in a residential area,” Consuelos insisted he lived “on the outskirts of town.”

“But we didn’t come back until it was time to come home for dinner,” he added. “I love that.”

Ripa remembered doing this, but “it all took place on her front yard.”

“My mother had a problem with us crossing the street,” she said. “She didn’t want us to cross the street.”

Consuelos boasted that he could cross the street and even “ride his bike to the swimming pool, which was about a mile away.”

Ripa replied, “Oh, forget it… Never.”

Consuelos teased him about being “a rebel,” while Ripa teased him about what it was like to “run away from home” because her mother was allowed to cross the streets.

“You know what it’s like when you run away from home and you think, ‘Bye, I’m never coming back!’ And your parents say, ‘Okay,'” she joked. “My mom always said, ‘Remember, you can’t cross the street.’ So I said, ‘Damn!'”

Although Ripa denied that she was carrying a “small cane with a small backpack on her back,” she did reveal what “belongings” she would bring with her.

“I would take my Farrah Fawcett head. My best friend Farrah Fawcett,” she said.

Consuelos joked, “For those lonely nights?”

Ripa then reiterated her escape route, explaining that she would “walk down the street” and then make four left turns past her neighbors’ homes.

“And then I was home again,” she concluded.
