Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez branded as “Congressional Kardashian” by Megyn Kelly

Megyn Kelly criticized Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after her speech at the Democratic National Convention on Monday. She said the New York congresswoman wanted to be a star and compared her to members of the Kardashian family.

Ocasio-Cortez, also known by the nickname AOC, criticized former President Donald Trump throughout her speech while highlighting Vice President Kamala Harris’ promises to the American working class.

At the event in Chicago, the progressive politician took the stage alongside several party leaders and praised Harris as a “leader with a real commitment to a better future for working families.” At the beginning of her speech, she thanked Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, for their vision. She also thanked President Joe Biden for his leadership.

While Ocasio-Cortez received applause that night, Kelly was less impressed, writing on X, formerly Twitter: “All AOC wants is to be a star. A congressional Kardashian.”

At the time of writing, the former Fox News host post was viewed 474,300 times. Newsweek Outside of normal business hours, he emailed spokespeople for Kelly and Ocasio-Cortez for comment.

Kelly is used to sharing her opinions online, and she is often critical of members of the Democratic Party. She has also previously compared Ocasio-Cortez to the reality TV family.

In 2022, she called the congresswoman an “idiot” and a “Kardashian in Congress” after Ocasio-Cortez called for the impeachment of Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh after they decided to Roe v. WadeLawmakers claimed they lied under oath during their Senate hearings.

On Newsmax’s The balanceEric Bolling – who has since left the right-wing network after three years as prime-time anchor – asked Kelly to respond to Ocasio-Cortez’s comments.

“Well, I’m going to differentiate between the two because I think AOC is an idiot,” Kelly said after Bolling mentioned Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

She continued: “I think Elizabeth Warren is smart – she has an ideological view and doesn’t necessarily represent your opinion or mine – but I think AOC is not as smart and she really just wants to be a star.

“She’s kind of like a Kardashian in Congress. I guarantee you she hasn’t read the decision, and I guarantee you she has no idea what due process is or the history of what she’s talking about.”

On Monday, Ocasio-Cortez told an angry crowd that they must help Harris win the upcoming election against Trump. Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic nomination in a speech on Thursday after winning enough delegates to become the party’s nominee.

“Chicago, we have to help her win because we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and bribing his Wall Street friends,” she said.

She continued: “And I, for one, am tired of hearing that some little anti-union fighter thinks he is a greater patriot than the woman who fights every day to free working people from the greed that tramples on our way of life.

“The truth is, Don, you can’t love this country if you only fight for the rich and the big corporations. To love this country is to fight for its people. For all the people.”

In July, after Biden suspended his campaign, Ocasio-Cortez immediately endorsed Harris, posting on X the day Harris launched her presidential bid: “Kamala Harris will be the next President of the United States. I pledge my full support to ensure her victory in November.”

The New York congresswoman also compared supporting Trump’s re-election campaign to a vote for “fascism.”
