In a I’m a celebrity…get me out of here! First, viewers were introduced to a fake influencer, The David (real name David Subritzky), who visited the camp as part of a challenge for MasterChef’s Poh Ling Yeow.
Hosts Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown tasked Poh with convincing the other camp members that The David is a real influencer in order to win food for the celebrities.
On Instagram, David captioned a snap of himself ready for the jungle with the words: “Fake it till you make it I say! I cheated my way into the (I’m a Celeb) jungle!!!”
In the show, David poses as a shoe designer and influencer with millions of followers.

Last night he told celebs how the likes of Miley Cyrus and Cardi B have worn his shoes, with Poh posing as a fan to fool former AFL star Nathan Buckley and former NRL star Beau Ryan, as well as former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil, TV and radio star Dylan Lewis, comedian Cal Wilson, AFL’s Derek Kickett, country music star Brooke McClymont and Olympian Emily Seebohm.
The show was filmed in northern New South Wales in 2021.
Arriving on the show, David told the cameras: “Personally, I think I’m good at talking nonsense, but this will be the ultimate test.”
“I’m going to have to lie about a manager I never had, about events I never went to. It’s going to be so hard, but I’m ready to take on this role – I’m the David, it’s showtime, you bitches.”
On camera, Poh said she didn’t know The David would come so early in the game.
“I think he does it really well, he looks very natural,” she said.
Nathan Buckley admitted he knew nothing about David, but described him as someone with “great presence”.
Dylan Lewis added that he didn’t know The David but found him “quite entertaining”.
Viewers really liked the twist, with one user writing: “I love ‘The David’.”
“I love him already,” wrote another, while someone else added, “I think The David is my favorite so far… and he’s not even famous.”
Although he might be a “fake” influencer, David has some experience with reality TV, as his sister is a former Big Brother Australia Star Layla Subritzky, who appeared on the show in 2012 and took second place.
David lives on the Gold Coast and is of English and Maori descent. His second sister, Holly Sophia Subritzky, is also an influencer.
