Diageo unveils its “highly anticipated” Talisker 30 Years Old

Diageo has released Talisker 30 Year Old, a limited edition bottling that “captures three decades of maturation”.

The whisky, which has “a gentle, peppery note with a hint of sea smoke”, was “crafted by the sea on the Isle of Skye” and, according to Diageo, represents “the pinnacle of Talisker’s whisky range”.

In conversation with the beverage businessSenior Ambassador for Diageo’s Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Talisker expert Ewan Gunn said: “Talisker 30 Year Old is always eagerly awaited and universally loved by whisky fans and collectors. Talisker always leaves such a tangible sense of home in the hearts and minds of those who taste it and this 30 Year Old Edition delivers that with flying colours – with every nose and taste you get closer and closer to the majestic mountain views of Skye, the distillery and the sea.”

Matt Macpherson, owner of the Malt Rooms, voted Scotland’s best whisky bar in 2021, said: “I love all kinds of whisky, but for me the Talisker 30 Years Old is the definition of balance. It’s like drinking the best smoked butter of your life, with a hint of brine that transports you to the west coast.”

According to the drinks giant, the whisky exudes “notes of freshly picked red apples and stone fruit, leading into aromatic wood spice and vanilla bean, with a scent of white pepper and dark chocolate.” Additionally, “on first sip, warming smoke hits the palate, along with a peppery spiciness and gentle saltiness, revealing layers of orchard fruit, campfire embers and pecan fudge. The finish is warm and lingering with hints of toffee and a touch of sea smoke.”

Gunn said db: “Limited to just 2,610 bottles worldwide, this new release will no doubt be sought after by Talisker collectors the world over.”

The new release will be available at selected retailers and on Malts.com. According to Diageo: “Customers wishing to purchase the Talisker 30 Year Old can contact the Justerini & Brooks Private Client team at [email protected] or purchase it from Reservebar.com and Malts.com.”

Talisker 30 Year Old will retail at £1,300 a bottle and follows the launch of Talisker Glacial Edge 45 Year Old, released by Diageo last November.
