The UFC middleweight title remained with South African champion Dricus Du Plessis.
Du Plessis defended his belt last Saturday in the main event of UFC 305 by defeating former champion Israel Adesanya via fourth-round rear-naked choke. It was the first title defense for Du Plessis (22-2 MMA, 8-0 UFC) after winning the belt in January by defeating Sean Strickland. On the other hand, this result meant that for Adesanya (24-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC), one of the greatest middleweights of all time, this result meant a record of 1-3 in his last four fights.
What does this result say about both men? How good is Du Plessis? Where does Adesanya go from here after yet another championship loss?
