Why did Jeremy leave The Bachelorette? A look back at Jenn’s hometowns

Why did Jeremy leave The Bachelorette? A look back at Jenn’s hometowns

The August 19 episode of The Bachelorette In “The 40 Years of Love,” Jenn Tran met the families of Devin Strader, Jeremy Simon, Jonathon Johnson and Marcus Shoberg. After a week filled with tears, family reservations and “I’m falling in love with you” declarations, only three men earned a rose from Jenn: their ticket to the show’s final romantic stop in Hawaii.

So what happened? Here’s a recap of Hometowns – including why Jeremy left The Bachelorette.

Devin said “I love you”

Jenn and Devin’s date took place in Houston, Texas, where the couple ran with their running club dressed in the couple’s t-shirts. Devin also introduced Jenn to his sweet dog, Charlie, before they moved on to the two-legged members of his family.

Jenn had a positive conversation with Devin’s mother, although both parents told their son that they did not want him to end up heartbroken.

At the end of the night, Devin decided to tell Jenn that he loves her. Jenn responded that she is “so in love” and sees a future with him.

Jeremy’s hometown made Jenn nervous

Next up was Jenn and Jeremy’s date in Fairfield, Connecticut. They started their day at Stew Leonard’s, a local grocery store known for its animatronic avocados and animals.

After meeting Jeremy’s aunt at the store, the two met up at home with more of his loved ones. Jeremy’s sister wasn’t sure if he was ready to get engaged, while his mother questioned how serious they were.

Jenn was scared and torn after the meeting, she told the camera, wondering if there was something “missing” between the two. Jeremy ended the date by telling Jenn he had fallen in love with her, and although she didn’t return the feeling, she said it made her “so happy” to hear that.

Jonathon has finally opened up

Jenn traveled to San Diego, California to meet Jonathon’s family. The two played lacrosse together before meeting Jonathon’s relatives.

His brother expressed concerns about the longevity of their relationship, but his mother said she could see them working out in the long run and encouraged him to “go all out.” Jonathon did just that, telling Jenn he was falling in love with her. She said she was falling in love with him, too.

Jenn made a confession about Marcus

Eventually, Jenn met Marcus’ sister and her family in Tacoma, Washington. Marcus told a friend that he was torn between liking and loving Jenn.

She began to cry while talking to Marcus’ sister Gabriella and eventually told her that she was actually “falling in love” with him.

Marcus later told Jenn that he had fallen in love with her, and she responded that she did the same to him. The date seemed to ease Jenn’s concerns about their slow relationship, and she told the camera that she could see a future with Marcus and his family.

The roses go to…

Before the final rose ceremony, Jenn’s four remaining men gathered for a casual dinner and shared their respective experiences. Marcus said in a confessional that everyone’s confidence left him feeling “behind,” and told the guys that he left the date with some clarity, but not enough.

But ultimately it was Jeremy who went The Bachelorette. She wanted to imagine a future together with him, she said into the camera, but “she didn’t fully see it there.”

Looking back on their time together, Jeremy tells Bustle that he was “confident” in their connection despite the last one-on-one date. “She told me on the one-on-one date something like, ‘I felt so comfortable (and) strong in our relationship that I didn’t feel the need to try it out,'” he recalls.

Jenn told Jeremy she was “grateful” for the time they spent together. He said that while he believed they were “on the same wavelength,” he wanted her to be happy.

His parting words stuck with Jenn because she began to question whether she was on the same page with her remaining guys. Specifically, she told Gabriella that she was falling in love with Marcus; he just said he was falling in love. There’s a big difference on this show!
