Highlights

  • In a true monkey-paw-curl moment, Mega Man will star in a new video game set to be released in less than a month.
  • There’s just one problem: It’s not from Capcom, but is part of the upcoming Funko Fusion IP mashup title.
  • It’s been a rough time for Mega Man fans, as the iconic blue bomber has been largely relegated to collaboration tasks.

Few things in life are as painful as being a Mega Man fan, because no matter what happens, you’re sure to get your heart broken.

Case in point: Mega Man is going to star in a new video game, and that video game is coming out in less than a month. There’s just one problem… Mega Man will be part of Funko Fusion as a guest character. In other words, this isn’t Mega Man 12 or a Mega Man Legends anthology collection. It’s just another collaboration.

Switch Online has added Mega Man 5 for Game Boy and you all have to play it

Mega Man 5 is an original game that not enough people have played, and now is your chance to get your hands on this hidden gem.

In a new trailer on Monday, the iconic blue bomber was revealed to be part of the upcoming IP mashup, which features Funko versions of Mega Man and Rush traveling through the wacky world of various films and TV series.

Listen:

For the uninitiated, Funko Fusion is the debut game from 10:10 Games and will be released on multiple platforms starting September 13th. 10:10 Games is a new project led by former executives from Traveller’s Tales, the studio behind the hugely popular LEGO video games, so the gameplay looks strikingly similar to previous LEGO titles, except instead of minifigures, it uses Funko Pops.

Mega Man was reduced to the obligation to collaborate

When it comes to Mega Man, it’s been pretty rocky for fans. The last main entry was 2018’s Mega Man 11, and while there have been several collections of previous Mega Man games, including the X and Battle Network series, it’s been pretty quiet when it comes to a new game.

Instead, Mega Man, or at least the world of Mega Man, has been the subject of various collaborations over the years. For example, there was a Mega Man collaboration with Exoprimal as well as Monster Hunter Rise. Additionally, Mega Man costumes are included in the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Digital Deluxe Edition, including Tron Bonne and MegaMan.EXE.

There is even an official Mega Man coffee collaboration.

As we said above, things are pretty painful in the world of Mega Man. Monday’s announcement is just another day in the life of Mega Man fans. It was truly a monkey-paw-curler moment, and not in a good way.
