Walker County begins road work in pothole-plagued community

JASPER, Ala. (WBRC) – We are on your side with an update on the road problems in Walker County that are causing some neighbors to not receive their mail.

Walker County emergency crews were on High Hill Road on Monday and began work to make the road safer and smoother.

“When we can take on a project like this and get it done and provide people with some relief in terms of road conditions, we are obviously all happy,” said County Commissioner Jim Borden.

Several residents have begun to speak out over the past few months, with some even sharing their thoughts and frustrations with our own Brady Talbert. Commissioner Borden says they have since diverted workers from other projects to streamline this project.

“We will put all our resources into this project to get it completed as quickly as possible,” said County Commissioner Jim Borden.

As for the project’s timeline, County Commissioner Jim Borden hopes progress will be visible in just a few days.

“I would like to see the majority of the repairs completed by the end of the week, but we still have to wait until we have addressed all the urgent problems,” Borden said.

Residents also report that the post office has informed them that it will resume deliveries as soon as the road is open to traffic.
