It was hometown week. Jenn got to go home with the guys. She got to meet their families. She figured out where she would fit in best, and she also got to see another side of the guys she was dating. Jenn first drove to Houston, Texas to be with Devin. Devin was happy in Texas. His family is there. His friends are there. The same friends that got him running. His friends all came to meet Jenn. They were super nice. They wore t-shirts with Devin and Jenn’s faces on them. And they all went running together.

Devin used to be a fat kid. His friends helped him get in shape. They love to run and run marathons. Jenn seemed to fit right in with them. She was physically fit. She didn’t mind working out. She kept up with them. She didn’t complain about it or get cramps. After the run, Jenn met Devin’s dog. Devin was a great dog dad. He loved dogs like a kid and Jenn was good with them. Not everyone was good with dogs, or with dogs they had just met. Jenn learned to appreciate the bond Devin had with his dog.

Devin and Jenn then went out to dinner with his family. Devin hadn’t always been close with his father. When he was younger, his father was in and out of his life. As Devin got older, they reconnected. They were still working on their relationship, but Devin told Jenn up front that he couldn’t get engaged to someone who hadn’t met his father. Jenn knew she had to make an impression. She just didn’t expect Devin’s father to be easier to deal with than his mother. His mother peppered Jenn with questions. She wanted to know what made Devin so special to Jenn.

Jenn was dating four boys at once. Their mothers wanted to know that their sons were being treated right. Jenn eventually said that Devin understood her because they were so similar. She explained her whole past to Devin’s mother. They connected because they were so similar. They were raised by single mothers. They had to watch their mothers struggle because their fathers were inconsistent. What Jenn didn’t know was that Devin talked to his father about his feelings for Jenn. He told his father that he didn’t want to tell Jenn he loved her just to have her tell someone she loved him. Devin wanted to say the words when he knew he would be the only one.
