In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat will fight for bronze in the men’s 57kg category in the second half. Also, Vinesh Phogat’s appeal has been accepted by CAS and the hearing is scheduled to take place in Paris at around 1pm IST.
India’s medal tally increased from three to five on Thursday as Neeraj Chopra took silver and the men’s hockey team won bronze. Chopra, the defending men’s javelin champion, threw 1.87m more than he did in Tokyo but missed out on gold. Gold went to Arshad Nadeem, who threw an Olympic record of 92.97m. Meanwhile, the Indian men’s hockey team secured a 2-1 win over Spain in the bronze playoff.
In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat made it confidently into the semi-finals of the men’s 57 kg, but then lost to the Japanese Rei Higuchi and will now fight for bronze. Anshu Malik, on the other hand, lost her round of 16 match in the women’s 57 kg and will now fight for bronze in the repechage round.
