While Planned Parenthood plans to offer free vasectomies and chemical abortions from a mobile van at the Democratic National Convention, a Democratic pro-life organization is running a fundraising campaign to support families in Chicago.

Kristen Day, executive director of Democrats for Life, announced in a Monday X post that the group launched a diaper drive in response to Planned Parenthood Great Rivers’ mobile van initiative.

Planned Parenthood Great Rivers in St. Louis announced last week that it will park a mobile van in Chicago’s West Loop near the Democratic National Convention at the United Center on Monday and Tuesday.

The company announced that it is partnering with the Chicago Abortion Fund and popular Chicago hot dog stand The Wieners Circle to provide free abortion medications and vasectomies during the convention.

Americans for Contraception, known for displaying giant inflatable intrauterine devices in cities across the country, also plans to set up an inflatable IUD near the convention. The 20-foot inflatable IUD, named “Freeda (Womb),” will be on display Monday through Thursday.

The organization Democrats for Life condemned the company for offering free abortion drugs during the party convention, saying it was “disrespectful to women and an attack on human rights.”

“Providing free abortions at the DNC is a disturbing display of disrespect for human life and motherhood, overlooking the need to provide support and options for pregnant women,” Day said in a statement Sunday. “We expect nothing less from Planned Parenthood. It is simply shameful how low the Democrats have sunk.”

Democrats for Life of America released a statement on Saturday calling on their party colleagues to “stop doing business with Planned Parenthood” and abortion activist groups and return to the party’s “true roots,” which the group says include standing up for the “little people” and the vulnerable.

“Instead of funding abortion, we firmly believe it is better to fund alternatives to abortion,” the pro-life Democrats said. “This radical act of violence against unborn children and pregnant and parenting people must be met with radical acts of nonviolence to support those who choose to choose the lives of their children and families.”

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America did not immediately respond to The Christian Post’s request for comment.

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has been a staunch supporter of abortion and Planned Parenthood throughout her career.

Earlier this year, pro-life activists condemned Harris’ decision to visit a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Minnesota rather than one of the state’s many pro-life pregnancy centers.

The Vice President also made it clear that she is against the US Supreme Court overturning the ruling. Roe v. Wadethe 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. During an interview with CBS’ Margaret Brennan in September 2023, Harris called for the restoration roe v. Wade, but left open whether she supports a limit on the length of pregnancy for abortions.

While the Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling allowed a limit on abortions based on viability, the court assumed that this point was somewhere between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy.

In a statement Monday, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, accused Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, of being the “Shout Your Abortion Party.” The chair of the national pro-life group also claimed that the Chicago convention showed the “extremism” of the current Democratic Party in full.

“Everyone should ask Kamala Harris, Tim Walz and all the other Democratic candidates: What are your exceptions?” Dannenfelser said. “Harris and Walz do not list a single limitation on abortion that they support – not in the seventh, eighth or ninth month of pregnancy, when unborn babies are clearly feeling pain, and not even when a child is born alive after an attempted abortion.”

“They stand for the elimination of the most basic protections for women and girls, such as informed consent and parental involvement, and seek to shut down alternatives to abortion,” she added, calling on Democrats to “stop ignoring the real needs of women across the country.”
