SEVEN SPRINGS, Pa., August 14, 2024 – As summer draws to a close, now is the best time to start planning for winter. Find your checklist to prepare for the upcoming ski and snowboard season here.

Pennsylvania skiers and snowboarders who start planning now will secure the best deals and experiences by visiting nearby ski resorts like Seven Springs, Liberty and Roundtop.

Here is our pre-winter checklist so you can start preparing for the 2024/25 ski and snowboard season:

Vail Resorts’ eight ski areas in Pennsylvania offer some of the best slopes for both beginners looking to experience the thrill of winter sports and advanced skiers looking to expand their skills. This season, new and expanded teaching and development programs will be introduced at five resorts in the region.

  • Seven sources: In addition to offering an expansive on-site hotel, indoor pool, arcade, bowling and snow tubing, Seven Springs will also expand its family-friendly offerings, offering new full-day and half-day group kids’ lessons in addition to the private kids’ lessons already offered. During lessons, children will build their confidence and learn new techniques from professional instructors specifically trained to work with children. In addition, the resort will offer two new seasonal development programs – Her Turns Academy for women and Mountain Adventure Team for children ages 8-17. Seven Springs will also introduce 300 new parking spaces for the 2024/25 ski season and offer an extensive events program including Ullr Fest, holiday celebrations and Toyota Takeover Weekend, as well as après entertainment at Foggy Goggle and the Main Lodge.
  • Laurel Mountain: Laurel Mountain, home of the steepest ski run in Pennsylvania, will host a new seasonal steeps program designed to help refine advanced skiing skills for area skiing and prepare for trips to ski resorts such as Vail Mountain, Breckenridge and Whistler-Blackcomb.
  • Hidden Valley Resort: The slopes and trails at Hidden Valley Resort are ideal for beginners and families looking to learn and progress together. This season, the resort will introduce two new seasonal programs – the Valley Adventure Team for youth ages 8-17 and the Snow Angels program for women. Reservations for the new seasonal programs at Seven Springs, Hidden Valley and Laurel Mountain will be available online beginning August 27. Reservations for group and private lessons, including full-day and half-day programs for kids, will be available online beginning in early October.
  • Whitetail Resort: Opening this season at Whitetail Resort, Kids’ Mountain Camp offers full- and half-day programs for children of all skill levels, ages 4-6 and 7-12. This new program gives parents time to explore the slopes on their own while the kids learn and improve their downhill skills.
  • Liberty Mountain Resort: Following a successful inaugural season, Liberty Mountain Resort will expand its capacity to welcome more little learners ages 4 to 6 to its full-day and half-day Kids’ Academy.
  • Round lid: Roundtop is celebrating the resort’s 60th anniversary with endless opportunities for on-piste fun. Plans are currently underway for off-piste fun such as special events, après activities and entertainment. In addition, investments in the resort’s snowmaking technology, including new snow cannons, will enhance the guest experience and provide more powder on popular runs.
  • Jack Frost / Big Boulder: At Jack Frost and Big Boulder, resort teams have worked hard to improve snowmaking systems by installing new pipes, valves and hoses, as well as purchasing new snow guns and LED trail lighting to provide guests with the best experience day and night.

Skiers and snowboarders have until September 2 to purchase an Epic Pass before prices go up. Epic Passes offer significant savings on early season lift ticket prices, and whether you want to ski or snowboard for just one day or every day, there’s a pass option to suit everyone.

  • The Epic Day Pass (starting at $44 per day) allows skiers and snowboarders to build their own pass – choosing from 1 to 7 days during the season. Epic Mountain Rewards allows passholders to save up to 35% on room rates. Passholders can book preferred accommodations starting August 22 by logging into their Epic Pass account and selecting the sale. Public access will be available online from August 27 to September 3, 2024.

Download the new My Epic app to use Mobile Pass this winter.
